Find Your First XP Book

Where to Look

The Book of Experience cannot be crafted, so you'll need to locate one in the world. There are three structures where you can find it:

• Ancient City — Found in the deep dark biome underground. Bring wool or other silent blocks to avoid triggering the Warden.
• End City — Located in the End dimension. Defeat the Ender Dragon first, then explore the floating cities.
• Stronghold Library — Search the fortress-like structure that leads to the End portal. Libraries contain bookshelves and loot chests.

Tips for Success

Bring appropriate gear for each location. Ancient Cities are dangerous due to the Warden, so move carefully. End Cities require you to have already reached the End. Strongholds can be located by throwing Eyes of Ender.

Once you find a Book of Experience, it will appear in the loot chests of these structures. Pick it up and add it to your inventory. You now have the tool you need to store and transport your experience levels safely.
