Experience Storage Data Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Where do I find the XP Book?
The Book of Experience spawns naturally in loot chests found in Ancient Cities, End Cities, and Stronghold Libraries. You'll need to explore these structures to locate one.
Can I craft an XP Book?
No, the XP Book cannot be crafted. You must find it in the structures mentioned above, so exploration is required to get started.
How do I store my experience levels?
Hold the XP Book in your hand and right-click to begin storing your experience. Your levels will flow into the book until you stop clicking or run out of experience.
How do I get my experience back from the book?
Hold the XP Book and press Shift + right-click to retrieve your stored experience. The levels will transfer back to you.
What happens if I die with the XP Book in my inventory?
The XP Book itself will drop like a normal item and won't be lost, protecting the experience stored inside it from being scattered when you respawn.
Can I store unlimited experience in one book?
The XP Book has a storage capacity limit, though the exact amount depends on the data pack configuration in your world.
Do I need to be in survival mode for this to work?
Yes, the XP storage mechanics only function in Survival mode. Creative mode will not allow you to store or retrieve experience.
Can I have multiple XP Books?
Yes, you can find and use multiple XP Books in your world, each storing experience independently.
Does this data pack work with other mods or data packs?
This data pack should work alongside most other content, but conflicts may occur if other mods or data packs heavily modify experience mechanics.
What if the right-click isn't working?
Make sure you're holding the XP Book in your main hand, not your off-hand, and that you have experience levels to store or the book has experience to retrieve.
