How to Stop Exordium From Making Your Inventory Feel Laggy

The tradeoff of capping GUI framerate is that menus can feel less responsive, especially when you are moving items around quickly. If your inventory, chests, or crafting screens feel stuttery after installing Exordium, you can tune it back without giving up all the performance gains.

Raise the GUI Framerate

Go into the Exordium config and increase the GUI framerate target. The choppiness comes from the interface redrawing less often than you are used to, so raising the value directly reduces that feeling. Find a middle ground where menus feel acceptable but you still get some benefit.

Use the Fade Animation Acceleration

Exordium includes a setting to accelerate GUI rendering during fade animations — the transitions when a screen opens or closes. Enabling this keeps those transitions smooth even when the steady-state GUI framerate is low, which is often where the sluggishness is most noticeable.

Practical Tips

  • Test with the screens you use most: inventory, chests, crafting, and any modded GUIs.
  • If a specific modded screen misbehaves, note it — you may need to raise the cap globally.
  • Keep an eye on your F3 framerate while a GUI is open; if you are not gaining anything, there is no reason to keep the cap low.
  • If the GUI still feels wrong, temporarily disable Exordium to confirm it is the cause before changing other settings.
