Use Excavar Efficiently Without Breaking Your Tools

Understanding Tool Durability

When you activate Excavar's multi-block mining, your tool loses durability for each block destroyed—not just one. Mining 16 blocks at once costs 16 durability points. This means your pickaxe, axe, or shovel will wear out much faster than normal mining.

Strategies to Preserve Tools

Use Unbreaking Enchantment: Apply the Unbreaking enchantment to your mining tools. This significantly reduces durability loss and extends tool lifespan when using Excavar.

Reduce Block Count: Lower your configuration setting to a smaller number. Mining 8 blocks instead of 16 uses half the durability while still providing a speed boost.

Bring Spare Tools: When mining long sessions, carry multiple tools in your inventory so you can swap when one breaks.

Target Selectively: Only activate Excavar when mining valuable or abundant resources. Use normal mining for single blocks or when durability is low.

Mending Alternative

If available in your world, use the Mending enchantment on your best tools. This allows durability to regenerate as you collect experience, making Excavar sustainable for extended mining sessions.
