Every Block Drop is Random Data Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I enable the data pack in my world?
During world creation, click 'Data Packs' and drag the Every Block Drop is Random pack into the 'Selected' column, then create your world. If you're adding it to an existing world, place the pack file in your world's datapacks folder and run `/reload` in chat.
Does this work in multiplayer servers?
Yes, the data pack works on both singleplayer and multiplayer servers. All players will experience randomized drops from the same blocks, though each player's drops are independent.
What blocks are affected by the randomization?
Every breakable block in your world has randomized drops, including common blocks like dirt, stone, wood, and grass, as well as ores and other materials. Bedrock and other unbreakable blocks are not affected.
Can I get netherite or diamonds from breaking dirt?
Yes, that's the core feature—rare items like netherite, diamonds, and enchanted gear can drop from any block, including basic ones like dirt or sand. Drop rates vary, so rare items are less common but still possible.
Why am I getting fewer drops than normal?
The randomization means some blocks may drop nothing or fewer items than vanilla Minecraft. This is intentional and part of the chaotic survival challenge; check that the data pack is loaded with `/datapack list` and reload if needed.
Does this data pack cause lag or performance issues?
No, the pack uses clean loot tables designed to avoid lag and maintain stable tick rates on both singleplayer worlds and multiplayer servers.
What Minecraft versions does this support?
The data pack works on versions 1.19 through 1.21. Check the pack's compatibility notes if you're playing on a different version.
Can I disable randomization for specific blocks?
You would need to edit the data pack's loot table files directly to exclude specific blocks from randomization. The standard pack randomizes all breakable blocks.
Do mobs still drop their normal items?
The data pack only affects block drops when you break blocks; mob drops are not randomized and remain normal.
Is this compatible with other data packs or mods?
The data pack should work alongside most other data packs, but conflicts may occur if another pack modifies the same loot tables. Test by loading both packs and checking if drops behave unexpectedly.
