Enhance Volumetric Light Shafts Through Trees
Locate Volumetric Lighting Options
Open the shader menu (Right Shift + R) and find the Volumetric Lighting, God Rays, or Light Shafts category. This controls how sunlight beams through foliage and gaps in blocks.
Increase Shaft Visibility
Adjust these settings to make light rays more dramatic:
- Volumetric Density — higher values create thicker, more visible light beams
- Ray Length or Shaft Distance — extends how far light rays travel through the air
- Intensity — brightens the beams themselves
Position Yourself for Best Effect
For the most striking volumetric shafts, stand in shadow beneath a dense tree canopy during late afternoon or early morning. Position the sun so it shines through gaps in the leaves above you. The contrast between lit and shadowed areas makes light shafts most visible.
If shafts look too overwhelming or cause performance issues, reduce density or intensity. Experiment with different times of day and biomes—forests and jungles showcase this effect better than open plains.
