Eventide Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I enable Eventide Shaders after installing it?
Launch Minecraft with Iris installed, go to Options > Video Settings > Shaders, then locate and select Eventide Shaders from your shader pack folder. The shaders will activate immediately.
Why do my volumetric light shafts look weak or barely visible?
Light shafts are most prominent during sunrise and sunset when the sun is low on the horizon; they're subtle at midday. Check that your render distance isn't set too low, as this can reduce the visible depth of light beams through trees.
Can I use Eventide Shaders with other mods like OptiFine or Sodium?
Eventide Shaders requires Iris and works best without OptiFine, as they conflict. Sodium is compatible with Iris, so you can use Eventide Shaders alongside Sodium for better performance.
My water reflections look too bright or washed out—how do I fix this?
Open the shader settings menu (usually Shift + R by default) and look for water reflection or water intensity options to dial the effect down to your preference.
Is Eventide Shaders heavy on performance, and will it lag my game?
Eventide Shaders is moderately demanding due to volumetric effects and reflections; performance depends on your GPU and render distance. Lower your render distance or disable volumetric light shafts in the shader settings if you experience lag.
Why do shadows look blocky or pixelated instead of smooth?
Shadow smoothness depends on your shadow map resolution setting in the shader options; increasing this value will improve shadow quality but reduce performance. Make sure shadow distance isn't set too low, which can also cause visible shadow edges.
Can I customize the sunset colors to match my world's theme?
Yes—open the shader settings menu and look for sky or sunset color options where you can adjust the hues and intensity of the evening horizon.
Do volumetric light shafts work indoors or in caves?
Volumetric light shafts primarily work where sunlight can reach; they're most visible outdoors during evening hours when light filters through trees and blocks at low angles. Underground, you'll see minimal to no light shaft effects.
Why does my game crash when I load Eventide Shaders?
Ensure you have the latest version of Iris installed and that your GPU drivers are up to date. If crashes persist, try lowering shadow map resolution or disabling advanced features in the shader settings.
Do water reflections show all blocks and mobs, or just the sky?
Water reflections primarily show the sky, clouds, and landscape features; reflections of mobs and moving entities may be limited or absent depending on the shader's reflection settings.
