Use Glowing Textures to Highlight Mob Features

Understand Glow Maps in ETF

Glowing textures are separate layers that make specific parts of a mob emit light. Unlike regular textures, glow maps ignore lighting and always appear bright, perfect for eyes, magical auras, or bioluminescent features.

Install Glow-Enabled Resource Packs

Download resource packs specifically designed for ETF that include glow maps. These packs contain extra texture files that define which pixels emit light. Activate the pack and ensure ETF is enabled in your mod settings.

Identify Glowing Features

Once loaded, explore your world and look for mobs with glowing parts. Common examples include:

  • Bright, luminous eyes on cave spiders or endermen
  • Glowing markings on witches or magical mobs
  • Emissive patterns on custom-textured creatures

Glowing features are most visible in dark environments like caves, making mobs easier to spot and more visually interesting.

Create Custom Glow Maps

If editing resource packs, create glow map textures alongside regular mob textures. Use bright colors to indicate which areas should emit light. ETF will blend these with your mob's base texture automatically, creating seamless glowing effects.
