Apply Random Color Variations to Spawning Mobs
Enable Random Mob Textures
ETF's random color feature requires a resource pack that includes multiple texture variants for mobs. These packs contain several color or pattern versions of the same creature.
Install a Variant Resource Pack
Download a resource pack built for ETF that includes mob variants. These packs replace single mob textures with sets of alternatives—for example, sheep might spawn in different wool colors, or cows with different spot patterns. Activate the pack in your world settings.
Spawn and Observe Variety
When you load your world, new mobs will spawn with randomized appearances from the available variants in your pack. Each mob is independently assigned a texture, so you'll see natural diversity in herds and groups.
Customize Variant Packs
If you're comfortable editing resource packs, you can add your own mob texture variants. Create multiple PNG files for each mob type and organize them according to ETF's naming conventions. The mod will automatically cycle through available textures when mobs spawn.
This feature works best in survival mode where you encounter many mobs over time, making the variety more apparent.
