Essential Commands Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I use the commands in this mod?
Just type them in chat like any vanilla command, for example /tpa or /home. If a command does nothing, check that the permission node for it is granted and that the 'use permissions api' config option is enabled.
Why aren't the commands working for me?
The most common cause is permissions: each command has its own node like essentialcommands.tpa, and they only apply when 'use permissions api' is set to true in the config. Also make sure the specific command hasn't been toggled off in the config.
Do players need the mod installed on their client?
No, the mod is purely serverside, so vanilla clients can join and use the commands. It also works in singleplayer worlds since those run an integrated server.
How do I give a player access to all the commands at once?
Grant the wildcard permission essentialcommands.* to give access to every command and subcommand. You can also use narrower wildcards like essentialcommands.tpa.* for just a command's subcommands.
How do I teleport to another player?
Use /tpa to send a request to teleport to them, or /tpahere to ask them to come to you. The other player accepts with /tpaccept and can decline with /tpdeny.
How do I set a home and teleport back to it?
Stand where you want the home and run /home set , then use /home to return there later. You can list your homes and delete ones you no longer need through the home subcommands.
How do warps work and who can create them?
Warps are server-wide points that players teleport to with /warp . Creating and deleting warps is controlled by its own permission node, so typically only staff can manage them.
How do I get back to where I died or teleported from?
Use /back to return to your previous location, which is handy after dying or after a teleport. Whether it works after death depends on the config options for the back command.
What does /rtp do and can I control where it sends me?
/rtp randomly teleports you to a safe spot in the world, useful for exploring or starting fresh. The range and other behavior are handled through the config and its permission node.
Can I change my nickname and does it affect permissions?
Yes, /nick lets you set a display nickname if you have the permission for it. Nicknames are cosmetic and don't change your actual username or permission assignments.
