Use Custom Armor and Weapons with Combat Animations
Rendering Armor During Combat
EpicYSM automatically converts and displays armor on your custom model during fights. The mod processes your model's folder or zip file on the fly, so armor pieces render correctly without manual setup.
Ensuring Weapons Display Properly
When you enter combat:
1. Held weapons appear — the item in your hand renders on your model's skeleton
2. Built-in decorative weapons hide — any weapons baked into your model mesh disappear, preventing duplicates
3. Weapon trails render — if using a combat expansion that adds visual effects, trails display correctly on your custom skeleton
Troubleshooting Rendering Issues
If armor or weapons look wrong:
- Check that your model folder structure matches Yes Steve Model requirements
- Ensure weapon item models are standard Minecraft formats
- If using encrypted
.ysmfiles, the mod applies poses in memory—no decryption needed on your end
Weapon expansions (like those adding special attack effects) work seamlessly with custom skeletons.
