Link Animations to Weapon Attacks
Understanding Animation References
Each attack in your moveset requires an animation file. The Extendable Weapon Capability system uses animation references to drive combat visuals and timing.
Pointing to Animation Files
In your weapon configuration:
- Reference animation files by their path and identifier
- Ensure animation names match exactly (case-sensitive)
- Specify animation duration and playback speed
- Define transition points where the next attack can begin
Synchronizing Animation with Hitboxes
For attacks to feel responsive:
- Hitboxes must activate during the swing portion of the animation
- Attack windows should align with visual weapon movement
- Recovery frames after the hit should match animation length
- Combo transitions should occur when animations naturally flow together
Debugging Animation Issues
If attacks look wrong:
- Check that animation file paths are correct
- Verify animation duration matches attack timing in your config
- Test in first-person and third-person to catch visual misalignment
- Ensure animation files are properly formatted for your mod version
