Extend an Existing Weapon's Moveset

Understanding Weapon Extension

The Extendable Weapon Capability system lets you add new moves to weapons without replacing their base moveset. This is useful for adding mod-specific abilities or variants.

Adding New Attacks

Create an extension file that references the original weapon. In your extension:

  • Preserve base moves: Keep existing attacks intact
  • Insert new combos: Add additional attack chains that branch from existing moves
  • Override selectively: Replace only specific animations or damage values if needed
  • Add conditions: Trigger new moves based on player status (enchantments, buffs, etc.)

Integration with Other Mods

Extensions work best when:

  • You reference the correct weapon ID from the mod you're extending
  • New moves use compatible animation systems
  • Damage values scale appropriately with the original weapon's power

Test extensions thoroughly in multiplayer if other mods are present, as moveset conflicts can cause unexpected behavior.
