Configure Weapon Damage and Hit Detection
Setting Damage Values
Each attack in your moveset needs damage configuration. In your weapon's JSON file:
- Assign base damage per attack type
- Specify damage scaling with weapon enchantments or player stats
- Define knockback force and direction
- Set whether hits apply status effects
Configuring Hitboxes
Hitboxes determine what your weapon can actually hit:
- Size and shape: Define the collision area for each attack
- Timing: Specify when during the animation the hitbox becomes active
- Range: Extend or reduce reach for different attack types
- Multi-hit moves: Allow some attacks to hit multiple times if the player stays in range
Testing Hit Consistency
Spawn test mobs and verify:
- Attacks connect at expected ranges
- Damage numbers match your configuration
- Knockback sends enemies in the intended direction
- Hitboxes don't catch unintended targets
Adjust hitbox timing if attacks feel delayed or hit too early relative to the animation.
