Using the /entityviewdistance Command to Tune Visibility
Why Use the Command Instead of the Menu
The /entityviewdistance command lets you set distances without opening menus, which is handy on a server or when you want to script changes. It also lets you target a specific entity type by name.
Basic Command Usage
1. Open chat and type /entityviewdistance to see the available subcommands and current values.
2. To set a distance for a specific entity, provide the entity type and the distance value as arguments — for example, the pattern is /entityviewdistance <entity> <distance>.
3. To check what a value is currently set to, run the command with just the entity argument and no distance.
Because the exact argument names and accepted ranges depend on your mod version, read the feedback the command prints in chat — it will tell you if a value is out of range or if the entity name is wrong. Entity names follow Minecraft's standard ID format (the same names used in /summon).
Server vs Client Behavior
If you are on a server, the command may require operator permissions, and settings can be enforced server-side so all players share the same distances. On a singleplayer world or a client-side setup, your changes apply only to you. If a value refuses to change, you likely lack permission or the server is overriding it — check with whoever runs the server before assuming the mod is broken.
