Adjust Mob Spawning Conditions for Custom Difficulty

Configure Spawn Rules

Control when and where your mobs appear by customizing their natural spawn conditions. This affects how often they spawn and in what environments.

1. Open /vme gui and select your target mob

2. Click Edit and switch to the Spawn or Spawning tab

3. Adjust the following settings:

  • Spawn weight: Controls how often this mob spawns relative to others
  • Group size: Set minimum and maximum number of mobs in a spawn group
  • Light level: Define brightness requirements (0 for dark, 15 for bright)
  • Height limits: Restrict spawning to specific Y-coordinates
  • Biome filter: Choose which biomes allow this mob to spawn

Save and Monitor

1. Make your adjustments and preview them in the 3D panel

2. Click Save to apply the spawn template

3. New chunks will generate with your custom spawn rules

4. Existing chunks won't change unless regenerated

Lower spawn weights make mobs rarer; higher weights make them more common. Adjusting group size and light levels lets you create mobs that only spawn in specific conditions, like rare nighttime encounters or deep cave dwellers.
