Entity Canvas Editor Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I open the Entity Canvas Editor?
Type /vme gui in the chat box to open the main editor menu. From there you can browse all mobs in your world and select one to edit.
Can I edit mobs that haven't spawned yet?
Yes—the mod works with mob templates, so your changes apply to all future spawns of that mob type. You don't need an existing mob in your world to create a template.
What happens if I edit a mob that's already in my world?
Your template changes apply to new mobs that spawn after you save. Existing mobs in your world won't update unless you reload the area or the mod is configured to refresh active entities.
How do I make a mob immune to multiple damage types at once?
Open the mob's editor, go to the Immunities tab, and toggle each damage type you want to block (fire, falling, projectiles, magic, explosions). Save your changes when done.
Can I edit mobs from other mods?
Yes—use the filter by mod name in the entity list to find mobs from specific mods, then edit them the same way you would vanilla mobs.
What's the difference between the normal editor and expert mode?
Normal mode uses visual tabs for common attributes like health and speed. Expert mode lets you input custom attribute IDs and values directly for more advanced control.
How do I make a mob spawn only in certain biomes?
Open the mob's editor, go to the Spawn tab, and adjust the biome settings to specify which biomes the mob can spawn in.
Do my edits save automatically or do I need to manually save?
You must click the Save button to store your changes to the configuration file. Unsaved edits will be lost if you close the editor.
Can I use NBT filters to edit only certain variants of a mob?
Yes—the mod lets you filter templates by specific NBT tags, so you can target and modify only the mob variants that match those tags.
Will this mod cause lag if I edit a lot of mobs?
The mod stores changes in a configuration file rather than processing them in real-time during gameplay, so editing many mobs shouldn't significantly impact performance once saved.
