Making Armor Appear Only During Combat

What Context-Sensitive Hiding Does

Show Me Your Skin! can tie armor visibility to conditions instead of leaving it permanently on or off. The most popular setup hides your armor while you're wandering around showing off your skin, then automatically reveals it the moment you enter combat. This gives you the cosmetic look you want without losing the visual cue that you're protected when a fight starts.

Setting Up the Condition

Open the mod's configuration for the armor piece you want to control. Alongside the plain hidden/visible options you'll find conditional visibility modes. Select the combat-based option for each piece you want to behave this way — you typically need to set it per slot, so repeat for helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots. Some players prefer to keep one piece always visible as a compromise, which you can do by leaving that slot on a normal setting.

Testing It

Trigger combat in a safe way, such as hitting a passive mob or taking a small amount of damage, and watch whether your armor fades back in. If nothing changes, double-check that the conditional mode is actually selected and not just the transparency slider, since those are separate controls.
