Understand Enchantment Level Costs and Multipliers

How Costs Scale

When you combine two enchantments, the plugin calculates the experience cost using a multiplier system. Each level of the enhanced enchantment adds extra cost on top of the base anvil cost. Higher tiers become exponentially more expensive as you push beyond vanilla limits.

Cost Factors

The final cost depends on:

  • The enchantment's new level after combination
  • The multiplier value set in the plugin configuration (adds cost per level)
  • The repair cost cap, which limits the maximum you actually pay

For example, upgrading Protection IV to Protection V costs more than upgrading Protection I to Protection II, even though both are single-tier increases.

Managing Costs

Plan your enchantment upgrades strategically. Combine lower-tier books first to spread costs across multiple anvil uses, rather than attempting one massive jump to maximum tier. This approach uses your experience more efficiently and avoids hitting server cost limits.

Server administrators control these values through configuration, so costs may vary between servers.
