End Caves Data Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I start exploring the End Caves?
Travel to the End dimension as you normally would through a Stronghold and End Portal. The cave systems will generate automatically when you enter; you can begin exploring downward from the surface or find cave entrances in the terrain.
What's the difference between this and regular End terrain?
End Caves Data Pack replaces the default End generation with cave world generation, creating interconnected underground systems from bedrock to height 128 instead of the usual floating islands. All End biomes and chorus fruit still generate naturally throughout these caves.
Can I still find End Cities in the caves?
Yes, End Cities and Strongholds generate within the cave terrain, though they may be harder to locate since they're integrated into the cave systems rather than floating above the surface. See the guide 'Find End Cities and Strongholds in Cave Terrain' for strategies.
Is chorus fruit farming different in the caves?
Chorus fruit grows naturally throughout the cave biomes just like in vanilla, so you can farm it the same way—break the plant to collect fruit and seeds. The cave environment simply provides more enclosed spaces to set up a farm.
Where should I build a base in End Caves?
Look for large open caverns or flat areas within the cave system to establish your base. Higher elevations (closer to 128) offer better visibility and easier access to the surface, while deeper caves provide more isolation and resources.
Do I need to worry about fall damage in the caves?
Yes—the caves have significant vertical drops, so bring blocks for building bridges or use slow-fall effects when descending. Always scout ahead before dropping into unknown depths.
Will the Ender Dragon still spawn?
The Ender Dragon spawns normally in the End dimension, regardless of terrain generation. You'll still need to defeat it and locate the exit portal as usual.
Can I use this data pack with other End mods or data packs?
Compatibility depends on what other modifications affect End generation—test by loading them together and checking if terrain generates as expected. If conflicts occur, load order or selection may need adjustment.
Why is my game lagging in the End Caves?
Cave generation can be more demanding than default End terrain due to increased block complexity. Try reducing render distance, disabling fancy graphics, or checking if other mods are also affecting performance.
How do I navigate without getting lost in the caves?
Place torches or other markers along your route, use a compass to track direction, or build a beacon tower at your base as a reference point. Consider creating a map or noting coordinates of important locations.
