How to Use Sniffer Digging to Uncover Enchanted Books

Finding and Using a Sniffer

Sniffers are creatures that dig in dirt blocks and uncover hidden items, including enchanted books from Enchantology. First, locate or breed a Sniffer in your world. Once you have one, lead it to areas with exposed dirt or grass blocks.

Triggering Digging Behavior

Sniffers will automatically dig in dirt blocks they walk over. You don't need to do anything special—simply keep your Sniffer in an area with plenty of dirt and let it work. The creature will periodically uncover items from the ground.

Collecting Your Rewards

Watch for items popping out of the dirt as your Sniffer digs. Pick up any enchanted books that appear. This method is slower than structure hunting but doesn't require dangerous exploration and can be done repeatedly in the same location.

Maximizing Efficiency

Create a large dirt farm near your base and keep your Sniffer there. Over time, you'll accumulate a collection of enchantment books. This pairs well with structure exploration—use Sniffer digging for common enchantments while reserving dangerous expeditions for rare, high-tier books.
