Find or enchant a piece of armor—typically a chestplate or leggings—with the Heartguard effect. You can obtain Heartguard books from enchanting tables, structure chests, or fishing. Use an anvil to combine the book with your armor piece.

Maximizing Survival

Once equipped, engage enemies and let your health drop intentionally in a safe area to see the effect activate. You'll notice healing occur automatically when you reach critical health. This gives you a second chance to escape or heal using potions.
