How to Limit Maximum Enchantment Levels and Bookshelf Count

Capping Enchantment Levels

The mod includes optional tweaks that let you lower the maximum level an enchantment can reach. In the config, look for the section covering level limits. You specify the enchantment and the highest level allowed. For example, you could cap Sharpness so it never exceeds a lower tier than vanilla. This affects enchanting tables, anvil combining, and any source that would normally grant a higher level. After editing, restart the game and test by enchanting an item repeatedly or combining books on an anvil to confirm the cap holds.

Limiting Bookshelves Around the Enchanting Table

The config also lets you restrict how many bookshelves the enchanting table counts toward its power level. This effectively lowers the best enchantments you can roll. Place your normal bookshelf setup, then check the enchanting table's offered enchantments. With the limit active, extra bookshelves beyond the configured number are ignored. This is useful on servers that want to slow progression without removing the table entirely.

Combining Tweaks

You can use both options together. Cap individual enchantment levels for fine control, and limit bookshelf count for a broader difficulty adjustment. Always restart after changes, and test in a throwaway world before applying to a live server so you do not accidentally lock players out of expected enchantments.
