Enchantment Disabler Mod FAQ

12 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I disable a specific enchantment with this mod?
Open the mod's config file and add the enchantment's registry ID to the disabled list, then reload or restart the game. Once listed, it won't appear on tools, armor, books, loot, or trades.
Where is the config file for Enchantment Disabler?
It's in your instance's config folder, named after the mod. You can edit it as plain text, or use the in-game config screen if your mod loader provides one.
What format do enchantment IDs need to be in?
Use the full registry name, like minecraft:mending or modid:enchantment_name. A bare name without the namespace usually won't match, so always include the mod ID prefix.
I disabled Mending but it still shows up on villager trades, why?
You likely edited the config while the world was loaded, or the trade was already generated. Disabled enchantments are filtered when new offers and loot are created, so existing trades and chests keep what they already have.
Does disabling an enchantment remove it from items I already own?
No. The mod stops enchantments from being generated or offered going forward; it doesn't strip them off existing gear. If you want them gone, you'll need to remove them manually.
How do I stop enchanted books from appearing in loot chests?
Add the enchantments you don't want to the disabled list. The mod filters them out of loot generation, so chests won't roll those enchantments on books or gear.
Can I limit how many times a villager will trade enchanted books?
Yes, there are config options for usage limits on enchanted book and item trades. Set the limit and the villager will stop offering that trade after it's used up.
How do I stop villagers from restocking enchanted book trades?
Enable the option that disables restocking for enchanted book and item trades. Once a librarian's book trade is exhausted, it won't refresh when they return to their workstation.
Can I turn off the enchanting table completely?
Yes, there's a config toggle that disables the enchanting table entirely. With it on, players can't use the table to enchant at all, which is useful for packs that want enchanting to come from other sources.
How do I limit the max enchantment level or bookshelf count?
Both are separate config options. The max level setting caps how high an enchantment can roll, and the bookshelf setting limits how many bookshelves the table will count toward its power.
Will this mod break other mods that add enchantments?
It's built to stay compatible, and enchantments from other mods are only affected if you explicitly add them to the disabled list. Leave them off the list and they behave normally.
Why don't disabled enchantments show in creative or JEI/REI anymore?
That's intended. The mod hides disabled enchantments from creative menus and from EMI/REI so players can't see or grab them, keeping the disabled state consistent everywhere.
