How to Disable the Enchanting Table Entirely or Restrict Villager Book Trades

Turning Off the Enchanting Table

If you want players to rely on loot, trades, or anvils instead of the table, enable the option in the config that disables the enchanting table. Once active, interacting with a table will not open the enchanting interface. The block still exists and can be placed, but it serves no function. Restart the game after toggling this setting. Confirm by right-clicking a table in a test world — nothing should happen.

Limiting and Freezing Villager Book Trades

The mod offers two related tweaks. The first sets a usage limit on enchanted book and enchanted item trades, so a villager can only sell a given enchanted book a certain number of times before the trade locks. The second disables restocking entirely for those trade types, meaning once the trade is used up it never refreshes. Configure both in the villager trade section of the config. Set the usage limit to your desired count, and toggle restocking off if you want trades to be permanently finite.

Testing on a Server

After editing, restart the server. With restocking disabled, the trade stays locked. This combination is popular for economy-focused servers that want enchanted books to be scarce and valuable rather than infinitely farmable.
