Enchant Once Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start using this mod?
Place items in an anvil as you normally would—the mod changes how the anvil behaves automatically. You don't need to craft anything or enable special modes; just use the anvil and you'll see flat repair costs and no "Too Expensive" messages.
Why does my tool still show damage after I repair it?
The mod's flat repair system costs experience levels but doesn't change the item's durability bar visually in some cases. Check your experience level—if it decreased, the repair worked. The durability will restore fully on your next use or when you close and reopen your inventory.
Can I duplicate enchanted books without losing the original?
Yes. Place an enchanted book next to blank books in the anvil, and the mod will copy the enchantment onto the blank books while keeping your original book intact.
How do I extract an enchantment from a tool onto a book?
Fully repair the enchanted tool first using its base material, then combine it with a blank book in the anvil. The enchantment transfers to the book, and you can now apply it elsewhere.
What's the difference between cloning armor and duplicating books?
Book duplication copies enchantments onto blank books and keeps the original. Armor cloning combines an enchanted piece with a plain version of the same item to transfer all enchantments, consuming both items in the process.
Can I downgrade an enchantment to a lower level?
Yes. Place an enchanted item in the anvil and the mod provides an option to reduce the enchantment level by one step, letting you fine-tune your gear without starting over.
Does this mod remove the "Too Expensive" limit completely?
Yes. You can combine items and repair gear as many times as you want without hitting an experience cost cap, making late-game maintenance unlimited.
Do I need to use special materials to repair, or can I use anything?
Use the base material of the item you're repairing—the same material you'd normally use at a grindstone or crafting table. The mod recognizes this automatically and applies the flat repair cost.
Will this mod conflict with other mods that change anvil behavior?
Conflicts are possible with mods that heavily modify anvil mechanics. Check your mod list and load order; if you experience issues, try moving Enchant Once Mod earlier or later in your mod load order, or consult the mod's compatibility notes.
Does this mod affect performance or cause lag?
The mod is lightweight and only changes anvil calculations, so it should have minimal impact on performance. If you notice lag, it's more likely caused by other mods or your world size.
