Fixing Emotes Not Showing or Playing for Other Players
A common frustration with Emotecraft is performing an emote and having nobody see it, or seeing other players stand still while they emote. This is almost always a sync or installation issue rather than a bug in your emote.
Check Who Has the Mod
Emotes are client-side animations. For another player to see your emote, they must also have Emotecraft installed. On a vanilla server or a server where others lack the mod, your animation plays only on your own screen. Confirm that the people you want to emote with have the mod.
Check the Emote File
If you are using a custom emote, the other player needs that same emote file installed. Built-in emotes sync automatically between players who both have the mod, but custom emotes do not transfer on their own. Share the emote file and have them import it.
Server and Version Mismatches
- Make sure everyone is on a compatible mod version; mismatched versions can break syncing.
- On multiplayer servers, the server does not need the mod for basic emotes, but all clients do.
- If emotes suddenly stop working after an update, re-check that the mod loaded correctly and your keybinds are still set.
Quick Test
Perform a default emote in front of another modded player. If they see it, your setup is fine and the problem is with a specific custom emote file.
