How to Use EMIffect to Identify Unknown Effects During Play

Why Look Up Effects Mid-Game

Minecraft and its mods add many status effects, and it is easy to lose track of what a particular icon in your HUD means. EMIffect turns every effect into a searchable EMI entry so you can identify it on the spot instead of guessing.

Step-by-Step Identification

First, note the effect's name or icon shown in your HUD. Open your inventory to bring up EMI, then type the effect's name into the EMI search bar. The effect appears as a phantom item entry. Click it to open its info page, where you will see the effect's name and, if available, a description explaining what it does. This tells you whether the effect is helping or hurting you and roughly what to expect.

Acting on What You Learn

If it is beneficial, you know it is safe to keep. Because EMIffect lists effects from vanilla and from other installed mods, this works for effects you have never seen before.

Building Familiarity

Repeating this lookup a few times helps you memorize common effects. Over time you will recognize icons at a glance, but EMIffect remains a reliable reference whenever a new mod introduces effects you have not encountered.
