EMIffect Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I see status effects in EMI with this mod?
Open your EMI sidebar and search for an effect name or the word 'effect'; each status effect appears as a phantom item entry. Click the entry to view its details.
Why can't I find a specific effect in EMI?
Make sure the effect is actually registered by a mod that's loaded, since EMIffect only displays effects that exist in the game. If it's a custom effect from another mod, that mod may need to provide a description via its language file for full details to show.
How do I read the description of an effect?
Click the effect's phantom item in EMI to open its info page, where the description text appears alongside the effect's basic info. If no description shows, the effect's mod hasn't added one yet.
How do I add descriptions for my own mod's status effects?
Add entries to your mod's language file using the format effect.[mod_id].[effect_name].description. EMIffect reads these keys and displays them automatically in EMI.
What's the exact language key format for effect descriptions?
Use effect.[mod_id].[effect_name].description, replacing the bracketed parts with your mod ID and the effect's registry name. Keep the key consistent with how the effect is registered.
Can I use EMIffect without Ender IO installed?
Does EMIffect work with Just Enough Effect Descriptions (JEED)?
EMIffect is inspired by JEED and serves a similar purpose for EMI users, but they target different recipe/info viewers. You generally don't need both; use the one matching your viewer.
How do I identify an unknown effect I have in-game?
Search the effect's name or icon in the EMI sidebar to pull up its phantom item entry. The info page then shows the effect's description and details so you know what it does.
Why does an effect show up but have no description?
That means the mod that adds the effect hasn't provided a description key in its language file. Only effects with a matching description entry will display custom text.
Does EMIffect affect performance or cause lag?
EMIffect only adds searchable entries and info pages to EMI, so its impact is minimal. If you notice slowdowns, it's more likely from EMI itself or the number of effects being indexed.
