Identifying Why a Recipe Won't Work

Checking Recipe Availability

If you try to craft something and it doesn't work, open EMI and search for that item. If a lock icon appears over the recipe output, a GameStage is blocking you—not a missing ingredient or crafting station issue.

Reading the Stage Requirement

Hover over the locked recipe output or look at the stage label above the recipe. This shows you the exact stage name preventing you from crafting. This is far more helpful than a generic "recipe locked" message.

Distinguishing Lock Types

A locked recipe is different from a recipe that's simply not in your modpack. Locked recipes will always show the lock icon and stage information. If you see neither a lock icon nor a recipe at all, the item may not exist in your current modpack.

Once you unlock the required stage, the lock will disappear and you can craft normally. The mod ensures you always know the reason something is unavailable.
