How to Trigger Lightning Strikes with a Channeling Mace
Setup Requirements
For your Channeling mace to work, you must be in a thunderstorm. The enchantment will not function during clear weather or rain without thunder. Make sure you're outside and the storm is actively occurring.
Executing the Attack
To strike lightning, you need to fall at least 1.5 blocks before hitting a mob with your mace. This means jumping from a height and attacking mid-fall, or attacking while descending a slope or staircase. The fall distance is measured from when you leave the ground until impact.
When you successfully hit an enemy during this falling state, lightning will strike the target. This works on any mob, making it effective for both combat and mob farming during storms.
Tips
Taller falls don't increase the effect—only the minimum 1.5 block height is needed. Practice timing your jumps and attacks to reliably trigger the lightning effect.
