How to Get the Most Loot and XP from Eldritch Boss Mobs

Why They're Worth the Fight

Eldritch mobs drop more loot than their vanilla counterparts, and the toughest ones can grant a large multiple of normal experience. That makes them a strong target for players grinding levels for enchanting or hunting rare drops. The tradeoff is that you must actually finish the kill.

Maximizing Your Rewards

  • Land the killing blow yourself. Loot and XP go to whoever kills the mob, so let summoned pets or other players soften it but take the final hit if you want the drops.
  • Use Looting. A sword enchanted with Looting increases drop counts on the mob's loot table, which stacks with the bonus drops Eldritch mobs already provide.
  • Don't let it despawn or burn. Some variants are fire-immune, but if a mob dies to environmental damage far from you, you may not collect the XP. Keep the fight close.
  • Clear the area first. Eldritch mobs often spawn alongside or attract normal mobs. Kill the trash before engaging so you don't get surrounded while looting.

Banking the XP

Bring a way to store or spend XP quickly, such as an enchanting setup nearby, so a big XP drop isn't wasted. If you're farming, build a safe arena with a clear escape route and a bed nearby to reset if things go wrong.
