Pairing Egg Faces With a Mob Farm's Storage System
Label Drops by the Mob That Made Them
A mob farm produces a mix of drops, and after a while it is easy to forget which chest holds what. Since the eggs now show faces, you can use them as chest labels that match the mob, not the drop.
Setting It Up
1. Decide which mobs your farm spawns and which drops each one gives.
2. Place one item frame above each chest and put that mob's egg inside.
3. If two mobs share a drop, put both eggs above the shared chest so you know it is a combined output.
4. Keep the frames at eye level. Faces are small; a frame near the floor is easy to miss.
Why This Beats Signs
Signs require reading and take a full block. An egg in a frame is a single glance. It also survives better on busy servers where signs get edited or broken. For large farms, use a consistent order — for example, hostile mobs left to right by threat level — so anyone on the server can find a chest without asking. Avoid mixing egg labels with unrelated decorative frames on the same wall, or the pattern stops being obvious.
