Effortless Building FAQ
20 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I get the
Randomizer Tool?
Craft it like you would any other tool in the mod, then keep it in your hotbar. Once it's selected, the mod's randomizer overlay appears so you can configure which blocks get swapped in.
How do I actually start randomizing blocks while building?
Hold the
Randomizer Tool, open its configuration screen, and add the blocks you want it to pick from into the randomization list. Then place blocks normally with Effortless Building's modes active and each placement pulls a random entry from that list.

Open the
Randomizer Tool's config screen and add block entries to its list — each entry is a block the tool can substitute in. Anything not on the list won't be used, so the list is what controls your palette.

Yes — the randomizer supports weighting entries, so a block with a higher weight appears more frequently in the mix. Use this to make one block the dominant texture and others occasional accents.
Why does my build look too chaotic when I randomize?
You probably have too many visually distinct blocks in the list, or the weights are too even. Trim the list to a few similar-toned blocks and give the main one a heavier weight so it dominates.
Why is nothing randomizing at all?
Check that the
Randomizer Tool is the item you're holding and that its list actually contains blocks. If the list is empty or the tool isn't selected, placements fall back to normal behavior.

Randomizer Tool work with Effortless Building's other modes like line, wall, or cube?
Yes — the randomizer applies per block as the mode places them, so a wall or cube built with a mode gets randomized block-by-block. That's how you get large natural-looking surfaces in one action.
Can I randomize only part of a build and keep the rest uniform?
Yes — just toggle the
Randomizer Tool off (or switch away from it) when you want uniform placement, and back on when you want randomization. The list persists, so you can flip between the two freely.

Large placements are heavier because each block is chosen individually, so very big operations can hitch briefly. Break the build into smaller chunks or reduce the list size if you notice stutter.
Does the
Randomizer Tool work with blocks from other mods?
It works with any block that can be placed normally, including blocks added by other mods, as long as you can add them to the list. Blocks with special placement rules or tile entities may not behave as expected.
What does the Effortless Building Mod do?
It makes building easier by providing tools like mirrors, arrays, build modes and a block randomizer. It lets you place and break multiple blocks at once, mirror blocks in realtime, and undo and redo, and it works in both survival and creative mode.
Which Minecraft versions does Effortless Building support?
The mod lists support for Minecraft 1.20.1, 1.21.1, 1.21.5, 1.21.11, 26.1.2 and 26.2.
What mod loaders does Effortless Building work on?
It is available for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge.
What build modes does Effortless Building have?
The available build modes are Disabled, Single, Line, Wall, Floor, Cube, Diagonal Line, Diagonal Wall, Slope Floor, Circle, Cylinder and Sphere. You select them from the radial menu that opens when you hold ALT.
How do you use the build modes in Effortless Building?
Hold ALT to open the radial menu and select a build mode, then with a block in hand right-click to pick the starting position, aim somewhere else and right-click again to build the shape. Build modes can also be used to break blocks and to interact with blocks, for example stripping logs with an axe or tilling with a hoe.
What is the
Randomizer Tool in Effortless Building?
The
Randomizer Tool is an item that lets you place random blocks, and you configure it by shift-rightclicking while holding it. It can be used together with build modes and build modifiers, and setting the ratio of an empty slot causes air gaps to appear in your shape.

The modifiers are Mirror, Array and Radial Mirror. Mirror places a mirror at a position of a certain size so each block placed on one side is mirrored to the other, Array copies the block you placed in a certain direction a certain number of times, and Radial Mirror divides an area in slices around a central point where each slice copies your block placements.
Does Effortless Building work in survival mode?
Yes, the mod is fully supported in survival mode as well as creative mode.
Does Effortless Building add new items or blocks?
It registers the
Randomizer Tool, which is the item used to place random blocks. The mod focuses on building tools and build modes rather than adding new blocks.
