How to Use Effect Insights with Modded Potion Effects

Why Modded Effects Need Descriptions

Vanilla effects are familiar, but modded effects often have unusual names that give no hint about what they do. Effect Insights includes descriptions for effects added by other mods, so you can understand them without leaving the game.

Identifying a Modded Effect

Hover the effect icon or the item that grants it. If the source mod display option is enabled, the tooltip will tell you which mod the effect belongs to. This is helpful when several mods add similarly named effects and you want to know which one is currently on you.

What to Do If a Description Is Missing

Not every modded effect may have a description available. If you hover an effect and see only its name with no explanation, the mod likely has no entry for it yet. You can still identify it by its source mod line and effect ID, then look up that mod's own documentation.

When combining many content mods, expect some effects to be covered and others not. Use the effect ID shown in the tooltip as a reliable way to tell two similar effects apart, since names can be reused across mods while IDs remain unique.
