How to Find and Farm Gem Zombies

Locating Gem Zombies

Gem Zombies spawn naturally wherever regular zombies appear—in dark caves, at night on the surface, and in zombie spawners. They look similar to standard zombies but are the only source of Effect Gems. Search caves at night or create a dark chamber to encourage spawning.

Setting Up a Farm

The most efficient method is to locate or create a zombie spawner. Gem Zombies can spawn from existing spawners in dungeons, making these ideal farming locations. If you find a spawner:

1. Clear the area around it to create a dark, open space

2. Build a collection system below to gather drops

3. Stand nearby to keep the spawner active (chunks must be loaded)

Alternatively, create an artificial dark farm in a cave or underground chamber. The darker the area, the more frequently zombies spawn. Gem Zombies drop Effect Gems and occasionally pearls—collect these for your offhand slot effects.
