Edibles Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I eat blaze powder or glowstone dust?
Just hold the item and use it like food — right-click (or hold right-click) while it's selected in your hotbar. The mod makes these ingredients edible directly, so no crafting or container is needed.
What effect does eating blaze powder give me?
Eating blaze powder grants you the Strength effect for a short duration. The default duration is 15 seconds, but you can change it in the config file.
What does eating glowstone dust do?
Eating glowstone dust applies the Glow effect to entities around you, making nearby mobs visible through walls. By default this lasts 20 seconds and can be adjusted in the config.
What does magma cream do when eaten?
Eating magma cream gives you Fire Resistance for a short time, useful for crossing lava or fighting blazes. The default duration is 15 seconds and is configurable.
What effect does eating sugar give?
Eating sugar grants the Speed effect for a short duration, letting you move faster. The default is 15 seconds, changeable in the config file.
Why am I getting the Weakness effect after eating too much?
The mod has a daily eating limit — once you exceed the
configured maximum number of items eaten, you receive the Weakness penalty. You can raise or disable this limit in the config file.
configured maximum number of items eaten, you receive the Weakness penalty. You can raise or disable this limit in the config file. How do I turn off the Weakness penalty completely?
Open the config file and set the relevant max item uses value to -1, which disables that limit entirely. There are separate options for per-item and total daily limits.
Can I change how long the effects last?
Yes — the effect durations are configurable in the mod's config file. You can set different durations for the glow effect and for the other effects separately.
Does this mod work on a server, and do other players need it installed?
The mod is designed to work server-side, so players generally don't need it installed on their own clients to benefit from the edible items. Check that the server config matches what you want, since limits and durations are set there.
Will eating these items conflict with other mods or cause lag?
The mod is minimalistic and only adds eating behavior and status effects, so compatibility issues are rare and performance impact is negligible. If another mod changes the same items or effects, test in a copy of your world first.
