Economical Villager Trading Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I know if a villager's trade price has changed?
Open the villager's trade screen—the price (number of items required or offered) will be visibly different from the base rate if supply and demand has shifted it. The more you use a particular trade, the more expensive it becomes; using other trades restocks and resets prices.
Why did my villager's trades all lock at once?
When all trades are locked out simultaneously, the villager will automatically restock every trade at once rather than one at a time. This is by design to prevent complete trading deadlock and give you a fresh set of offers.
Can I make a villager level up faster to reset prices?
Yes—adjust the `villager_xp_multiplier` config option to increase XP gains from trades, which speeds up leveling and triggers full trade restocks. You can also enable `enable_villager_levelup_while_trading` to let villagers level mid-session.
What's the difference between buy and sell trades?
Buy trades are when you sell items to a villager (you give, they give emeralds); sell trades are when you buy from them (you give emeralds, they give items). This mod restocks buy trades when you exhaust sell trades and vice versa, creating a natural balance.
Does curing a zombie villager affect trade prices?
Only if you enable the `enable_reputation_price_adjustments` config option—then curing villagers (and other reputation changes) will lower prices as a reward, while harming them raises prices as a penalty.
Should I use one villager for everything or spread trades across many?
The mod encourages using multiple trades per villager since restocking is tied to trade usage, not time. One well-rounded villager is more efficient than duplicates, but a small hub with specialized villagers still works—just rotate between their trades to keep prices reasonable.
How do I prevent a useful trade from becoming too expensive?
Use other trades from that villager to trigger restocks, which resets prices. Alternatively, lower the `villager_trade_adjust_balance` config value to slow down price inflation, or let the villager level up to restock all trades at once.
Do prices ever go back down on their own?
Prices adjust based on your trading patterns—they don't passively decay over time. To lower a price, use a different trade from that villager (which restocks the expensive one) or wait for the villager to level up.
Will this mod cause lag with many villagers?
The mod is designed to be lightweight, but performance depends on your config settings and how many villagers you have active. If you experience issues, try reducing `villager_trade_adjust_balance` or limiting the number of simultaneously-trading villagers.
Can I turn off price changes for specific villager types?
The mod applies its pricing system globally to all villagers, but you can disable reputation adjustments with `enable_reputation_price_adjustments` or adjust the overall price sensitivity with `villager_trade_adjust_balance` to make changes less dramatic.
