How to Preview and Troubleshoot Your Eating Animation In-Game
Once you have the mod installed, or after you have made a custom animation, you want to actually see it working and fix it when it does not. This guide covers how to test and what to check.
Testing the Animation
1. Hold a food item in your main hand.
2. Right-click and hold to begin eating. Watch your character's hand and head in third-person view (press the perspective key) to see the chewing clearly.
3. Switch to first-person to confirm the held item animates there too.
4. Open your inventory while holding food to check the GUI animation, if you have that option enabled.
Common Problems
- No animation at all: another mod may be controlling first-person hand rendering, or the eating action is being replaced. Temporarily remove conflicting mods to isolate the cause.
- Animation only in world, not inventory: the inventory animation option is turned off in the config.
- Custom animation not showing: the model path or namespace does not match the item, or the resource pack is not enabled.
- Animation looks wrong on a modded item: the item's model may not be compatible, so supply a dedicated eating model.
Change one thing at a time and retest so you know which fix actually worked.
