How to Toggle PVP, Online Mode, Flight, and Mob Spawning on a LAN Server

The Server Basic Settings Group

EasyLAN exposes several vanilla server properties as simple on/off toggles in the Server Basic Settings section of its configuration screen. These include:

  • Allow PVP — whether players can damage each other.
  • Online Mode — whether the server verifies accounts with Mojang's authentication servers. Turning this off lets players without a verified session join, which is useful for offline or cracked setups but weakens account security.
  • Spawn Animals — whether passive animals generate in newly loaded chunks.
  • Spawn NPCs — whether villagers and similar non-player entities generate.
  • Allow Flight — whether players may fly (relevant for survival worlds where you want to permit creative-style flight).

Choosing Values for Your Group

For a casual co-op session, most players keep PVP off, online mode on, and both spawn options on so the world feels normal. For a private test world where you want a clean, controlled environment, you might turn animal and NPC spawning off to reduce lag. Flight is usually left off in survival to preserve balance, but turning it on is handy for building projects. Set each toggle, confirm, and the LAN server starts with those rules enforced for the whole session.
