How to Change the Port, Max Players, and MOTD of a LAN Server
Custom Section Options
The Custom group in the EasyLAN screen controls the three settings players most often want to tweak:
- Custom Port — the network port the LAN server listens on. The mod restricts this to a valid port range, so you cannot enter an invalid or reserved number. If you leave it alone, the game picks a port for you.
- Custom Max Player — how many players can be connected at once. The mod allows a very wide range, far beyond vanilla's small default, so large groups can join.
- Custom MOTD — the message of the day shown in the server list. There is a word-count limit, so keep it short and readable.
Applying and Verifying
Fill in the values, confirm the screen, and let the LAN server start. Friends on the same network will see your MOTD in their multiplayer server list when they scan for LAN games. If you set a custom port, they may need to add the server manually using your machine's local address and that port instead of relying on auto-detection. If a friend cannot connect, double-check that the port you chose is not already used by another program — pick a different one and reopen the LAN world.
