How to Install and Verify Dynamic View Mod on a Server
Server-Side Only Installation
Dynamic View Mod is a server-side utility. You only need to place it in your server's mods folder. Players connecting to your server do not need the mod installed on their clients, and vanilla clients can join without issues. This makes it ideal for servers that want view distance management without forcing players to download anything extra. After adding the mod file, start or restart the server so it generates its configuration file.
Verifying the Mod Is Working
Once the server is running, locate the config file the mod created. Open it and confirm the entries for minimum chunk view distance, maximum chunk view distance, average tick time, and update frequency are present. Set values appropriate for your server, save the file, and restart. To verify behavior, watch the view distance as players join and leave. You should see it rise when the server is idle and fall when load increases. If nothing changes, double-check that the config was saved correctly and that the server actually reloaded it.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
If the view distance never changes, your minimum and maximum may be set to the same value, which gives the mod no room to adjust. If it changes too often, increase the update frequency interval. If players report chunk loading problems, raise the minimum view distance. Remember the mod only adjusts view distance based on tick time; it does not fix underlying performance problems from other mods or hardware limits.
