Identify Light-Emitting Mobs

Some mobs produce their own dynamic light, making them visible even in complete darkness:

• Blazes emit the brightest light (Level 15)
• Glow Squids produce medium light (Level 10)
• Magma Cubes emit medium light (Level 10)

Use Their Light to Your Advantage

When exploring caves or the Nether:

• Follow the glow of blazes or glow squids to locate them
• Use their light to navigate nearby terrain
• Approach cautiously—the light reveals them to you, but you to them as well

Hunt Glow Squids Efficiently

Glow squids spawn in deep ocean biomes. Their glow makes them easy to spot underwater. Combine their natural light with a hand-held torch or lantern to see the surrounding ocean floor clearly while hunting for ink sacs or glow ink sacs.

Combat Preparation

When approaching a blaze spawner, the blazes' natural brightness means you won't need to hold a light source—keep both hands free for your sword and shield.
