Troubleshooting the Crosshair When It Stops Adapting After Adding Mods
First, isolate the cause
If the crosshair worked before you added new mods and now behaves oddly, the new mods are the likely cause. The Compat add-on can only adapt to mods it can read, and a conflicting mod may be overriding the same rendering or input behaviour.
Troubleshooting steps
1. Remove the most recently added mods one at a time and test after each removal. This tells you which mod is involved.
2. Check that the base Dynamic Crosshair mod and the Compat add-on are both still loaded. A missing dependency will silently disable the add-on's behaviour.
3. Look for other mods that change the crosshair, HUD, or targeting. Two mods fighting over the same element often produce a frozen or default crosshair.
4. Verify the add-on is actually enabled in the mod list, not just present in the folder.
5. Test in a fresh world with only the base mod, the add-on, and the suspect mod. If the crosshair works there, the conflict is with something else in your pack.
6. Check the config files of both the base mod and the add-on for anything that was reset or corrupted during the mod change.
If nothing works
Report the conflict to the add-on's issue tracker with the list of mods involved. Compatibility add-ons are updated specifically to handle newly reported mods, so a clear report is often what gets your item supported.
