Fixing the Crosshair Not Changing When Using Modded Blocks
Understanding the problem
A common complaint is that the crosshair stays in its default shape when you point at a modded machine, crop, or interactive block. The base Dynamic Crosshair reads vanilla block properties to decide whether you can interact, and modded blocks often use custom logic that the base mod cannot see. The Compat add-on adds handling for these cases, but only when the block reports its state in a way the add-on understands.
What to check
1. Confirm both the base mod and the Compat add-on are present and enabled in the same profile.
2. Point at the modded block from different angles and distances. Some modded blocks only register as interactive within a certain range or when you are holding the right item.
3. Try holding the tool the block expects, such as a wrench or a specific modded item. Many modded blocks only expose their interact state when the correct item is in hand.
4. Check the base mod's config for any per-block or per-tag overrides and add the modded block if it is missing.
5. If the block is part of a large mod, look for a compatibility patch or config option inside that mod that controls how it reports interaction.
When it cannot be fixed
If the modded block never tells the game it is interactable, the crosshair has nothing to react to. In that case the limitation is in the source mod, not the crosshair add-on.
