Configuring Dynamic Crosshair Compat for a Modded Modpack

Plan before you tweak

In a large modpack you may have dozens of mods adding tools, guns, and machines. The Compat add-on will handle many of them automatically, but the ones it misses are the ones you notice. Rather than editing settings blindly, identify which items actually look wrong in play.

A practical workflow

1. Play normally for a session and note every item or block where the crosshair shows the wrong state.

2. Group them by mod so you can see whether one mod is responsible for most of the problems.

3. Open the Dynamic Crosshair configuration and look for the section that maps items or item tags to crosshair behaviours.

4. Add entries for the problem items, assigning each to the action it should represent, such as mining, attacking, or interacting.

5. If the config supports tags, prefer tagging whole categories of items at once instead of listing them one by one. This survives mod updates better.

6. Save the config and reload it in game rather than restarting if the mod allows it.

7. Retest each item you changed and remove any entries that had no effect.

Keep it maintainable

Write down which mods you patched. When you update the pack, recheck those items, because mod updates can change how items behave and invalidate your overrides.
