How to Dye Any Mob in Dye Mob Dye Mod

Getting Ready

Dyeing a mob is a quick, repeatable action. Before you start, make sure you have the dye item you want in your main hand. Any standard Minecraft dye color works, so pick the shade you want the mob to become. You do not need a crafting station, an anvil, or any special tool — just the dye itself.

Applying the Dye

1. Hold the dye item in your hand so it is the active hotbar slot.

2. Walk up to the mob you want to recolor and aim your crosshair directly at its body.

3. Right-click the mob. The dye is consumed and the mob's color changes to match the dye you used.

4. Repeat with a different dye if you want to change the color again.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Sheep are excluded on purpose. They already change color in vanilla Minecraft when dyed, so this mod leaves them alone and their normal behavior is unchanged.
  • The mod works on almost every animal and monster, so you can experiment with cows, pigs, chickens, villagers, and hostile mobs alike.
  • If a right-click does nothing, check that you are actually holding dye and not a different item, and that your crosshair is on the mob rather than the ground or a block.
  • Dye is used up each time, so bring a stack if you plan to recolor a whole herd.
