Dye Mob Dye Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I dye a mob in Dye Mob Dye Mod?
Hold a dye item in your hand, look directly at the mob you want to recolor, and right-click it. The mob's color changes instantly and the dye is consumed.
Why can't I dye sheep with this mod?
Sheep are intentionally excluded because they already change color in vanilla Minecraft. Use the base game's shearing and dyeing mechanics on sheep instead.
Does dyeing a mob use up my dye?
Yes, each right-click consumes one dye item from your hand, just like dyeing sheep or wool in the base game. Bring a stack if you plan to recolor a whole herd.
Can I dye hostile mobs like zombies and creepers?
Yes, the mod works on most monsters as well as animals. Aim at the mob and right-click with dye to change its color.
Can I dye villagers with this mod?
Yes, villagers can be dyed like other mobs. Their profession and trades are unaffected — only their appearance changes.
Does the color stay after the mob despawns or the world reloads?
Dyed mobs keep their new color as long as they exist in the world. If a mob despawns or is killed, its color is gone with it, so dye named or penned mobs if you want to keep them.
Can I undo a dye job and get the mob's original color back?
There is no built-in undo, so the simplest fix is to dye the mob again with the color you actually want. For naturally colored mobs, you may need to spawn or breed a fresh one to get the default look back.
Does dyeing a mob change its drops or behavior?
No, dyeing is purely cosmetic. Loot tables, AI, breeding, and mob behavior all stay the same as an undyed mob.
Can I dye baby animals and mobs in a mob farm?
Yes, babies and adults can both be dyed, and it works on mobs inside farms or pens. Just right-click each one individually with dye in hand.
Will this mod cause lag if I dye lots of mobs?
Dyeing itself is lightweight since it only stores a color value per mob. Performance impact is minimal even with many dyed mobs, though very large mob farms will lag regardless of color.
