Fixing Common Dye Mob Dye Problems
When Dyeing Does Not Work
If right-clicking a mob does nothing, work through these checks before assuming something is broken.
Quick Checks
- Confirm you are holding dye. If your hand holds a different item, the right-click will not apply a color.
- Make sure your crosshair is actually on the mob. If you are aiming at a block, the ground, or through a gap, the dye will not register on the creature.
- Check the mob type. Sheep are intentionally excluded because they already change color in vanilla Minecraft, so dyeing a sheep through this mod will not behave the way it does for other mobs.
- Verify the mob is one the mod supports. It covers almost every animal and monster, but if a specific creature does not respond, it may simply be outside the mod's range.
Other Things to Know
- Each successful dye use consumes one dye item, so running out mid-task looks like the mod stopped working. Refill from your inventory or a nearby chest.
- Recoloring is not permanent in a special way — you can apply a new dye at any time to change the color again.
- Dyeing never alters a mob's health, drops, breeding, or AI. If a mob behaves oddly after dyeing, the cause is something else, not the color change.
- If a mob is moving
too fast to target, trap or corner it first, then apply the dye.
