Dusk Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Why are there so many mobs at night with this mod?
Dusk Mod gradually increases the monster spawn cap as night progresses, peaking around midnight, then decreasing toward dawn. This makes nights progressively more dangerous and challenging to survive.
When can I sleep to skip the night?
By default, you can only sleep once it's later in the night than vanilla Minecraft allows—the mod delays when beds become usable. You can adjust this timing in the config file, or disable sleeping entirely if you want to survive the full night.
Do I need to install this mod on my client?
No, Dusk Mod only needs to be installed on the server. Clients connecting to a server running it will experience the increased difficulty without needing the mod themselves.
Can I customize how many mobs spawn?
Yes, the mod has config options to adjust the monster cap increase during night and the total monster cap in the world. You can also control the time interval over which mobs gradually spawn.
What's the best strategy for surviving the first night?
Focus on gathering wood and building a shelter before dark, then stay inside and avoid going out until dawn or until you can sleep. Stock up on food and tools, and consider creating a mob farm or defensive perimeter once you're established.
Does this mod affect daytime spawning?
No, Dusk Mod only increases spawns during nighttime; daytime mob behavior remains normal.
Can I use this mod in single-player?
Yes, you can install it on a single-player world, though it's primarily designed for server use. The mod will work the same way, making nights harder to survive.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
Having more mobs in the world can impact performance depending on your hardware and how high you set the monster caps. Monitor your frame rate and adjust the config settings if you experience slowdowns.
How do I disable sleeping completely?
There's a config option to disable sleeping entirely, which forces players to survive the full night instead of skipping it. This makes the mod significantly more challenging.
Can I use this mod with other mods that change mob spawning?
Compatibility depends on how the other mods modify spawning mechanics; conflicts are possible. Test your mod combination in a test world first, and check mod documentation or community forums if you encounter issues.
